Anchor In Vacation Testimonials

  • One Night Get Away was Great!

Loved the watching the boats and action in harbor. Our room, The Osterville, was amazing, great light and wrap around balcony. Laid-back vibe, yet clean and accommodating and friendly staff. We only stayed for one night, but we are already planning on returning for a longer stay.

  • very nice and quaint

This place is very nice for the money. Your right on the water and within walking distance to everything. The inn is super nice and a hidden gem. I love being on the bay hearing the sounds and smells of the ocean. TripAdvisor Reviews

  • Great Location in Hyannis

We stayed in the West Barnstable room which was quiet and had a perfect view of the harbor. Most attractions are within walking distance of hotel. Breakfast was included and good. Afternoon cookies and beverages nice touch. Fire pit at night great. Front desk was helpful with tips on restaurants, day trips to Martha's Vineyard and sites in Hyannis.

  • Our Favorite on the Mainland

My husband and I live on Nantucket island, and there are occasions when we have to travel to the mainland and stay overnight, or are stuck because of weather related ferry cancellations. Our go-to place is the Anchor In - always fresh, lovely, and friendly. This is a 3rd generation family-owned motel, recently renovated, comfortable, and charming for anyone in transit. Also extremely close to both Steamship Authority and Hy-Line ferry docs, as well as Cape Cod Hospital, with a nice view of the harbor

  • Nice Hotel with 1st Class Customer Service

My wife and I stayed at the Anchor-In for one night and really enjoyed it. Some may comment that the hotel is a bit dated, but it is super-clean, comfortable and well-appointed, and all of the buildings, furniture, fixtures, etc. were in good condition and perfect working order. The location is great, with nice views of the harbor, and the amenities (free wifi, fire pit, library, in-room fridge) were nice features as well. The continental breakfast was one of the best we have experienced in many years of travel. Congrats to Lisa and Skip on running a first-class operation, and to their staff for their outstanding customer service and overall friendliness. We look forward to our next stay at the Anchor-In!

  • Wow!

What can I say?! My husband and I just came home from our third visit to the Anchor In. Again, our experience there was fantastic. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Our room, 127, was always spotless and comfortable. The view of Hyannis Harbor from the room's deck was gorgeous! Every morning, we were offered a wide variety of delicious treats to eat for breakfast. This hotel is centrally located, so that you can easily visit any town of your choice on the Cape, from Falmouth to Provincetown. We wholeheartedly recommend the Anchor In because they make you feel so relaxed and at home.

Anchor In is set in a perfect location at Hyannis. The hotel delivers a high level of customer service and attention to detail. • Simply The Best!

This was our first time to Cape Cod and we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. I had researched hotels all over the island and fell in love with the Hyannis Room at the Anchor In. Our room was perfect! Spacious, clean, comfortable and a great wraparound deck with an awesome view of the harbor. The Front Desk staff were so helpful and responsive to our needs. Directions, restaurant recommendations (lots of menus are available for you to review). The continental breakfast was delicious - hot, fresh food and beverage everyone to enjoy either in the library or on the porch. I couldn't be more pleased with our choice of hotel. The staff makes you feel so welcome! We were delighted to see a bottle of champagne in our room upon our arrival wishing us a Happy Anniversary. Upon our departure, we received a lovely bag of bottle waters and taffy. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel! Simply the BEST! A Valued Guest Summer 2012.

  • Perfect Quiet Harbor getaway

We stayed here during our Cape Cod visit last May as we toured New England. This inn was a lovely as it sounds! It was our favorite stop along the way. Breakfast was delightful in the large kitchen...tables are set up throughout the sunroom and dining area overlooking the harbor. This location is perfect. We were able to walk over and shop along the main street and walk to the JFK memorial on the harbor. We enjoyed wine in the evenings in the parlor. The rooms were all slightly different and felt like a cottage. Perfect stay! Would definitely return!

  • My husband and I have stayed at the Anchor In 10 times

My husband and I have stayed at the Anchor In (10 times now since 2010 )and we are never disappointed. Your staff is always professional, helpful and courteous. Whenever anyone asks us about our stay on Cape Cod we highly recommend your hotel. The gentleman who was working at the front desk during our recent visit last month was very kind to us and made our stay one we will always remember.  Thank you.

  • WOW What a Stay!

My husband and I spent 4 days on the Cape as a mini-vaca. We had the best stay at the Anchor In! The room had a great view, the accommodations were comfortable but most especially pristine! No matter where we were in the hotel it was spotless and comfortable. The staff was so so nice, respectful and almost invisible but obviously around. This was a great area on the cape for day trips. We could comfortably hit an area and return to 'home base' and head off the next day for another area of the cape. We hit it all. I would recommend the Anchor In to anyone who will listen

  • A Real Gem

The Anchor In is a very nice hotel right on the water in Hyannis. Both the inside and outside are impeccably maintained and picture perfect. We stayed in the east wing and our balcony provided a great view of the harbor. The pool is gorgeous and incredibly clean. It's easy to see the owners are very conscientious about the property. But what really knocked my sock off was the instant hot water in the bathroom. And I mean hot. It's been quite a while since I've been able to take a real hot shower in a hotel. Not here, they know how important it is.

  • My family and I had an amazing time

I would like to start off by saying THANK YOU!!!!  My family and I had an amazing time this week at your hotel.  We stayed in room 140 "The Osterville" and it was perfect.  The view was wonderful and my family of 4 felt so comfortable.  Our children are 17 and 13 and my 13 year old is already 5'11" so he needs some space.  Janet and Chris were both great and helped us at different times with a smile on their faces.   The hotel grounds were beautiful and clean and every employee was friendly and courteous!  We sat by the fire pit one night and used the pool on the 4th.  Both were clean and fun!!!  The pool towels were great and you had plenty for every guest that came.  Your selection for breakfast was excellent and the coffee was delicious!  Very important to me!

We were sad to leave yesterday to say the least!!  Anchor In will continue to be part of our July 4th vacations on the Cape.  Please keep doing what you are doing!!!! The flags on 4th of July and the water and salt water taffy upon check out were so appreciated.  These are little gestures that do not go unnoticed and make you stand out!!!  Keep up the great work and we will definitely be back!!!

  • Liked it so much

We stayed on! We booked for 3 nights and stayed 5! This Inn is charming, friendly, extremely clean and the staff were always friendly and helpful. We enjoyed some lovely evening meals in Hyannis' restaurants at the staff's recommendation. The breakfast on offer was fresh, plentiful and of excellent quality in a very pleasant and comfortable surrounding. It is buffet style with very good choices, which are continually being replenished. The decor throughout this hotel is quality and tasteful. Quiet location, in easy walking distance to harbour/ferries and Maine Street with the many restaurants and shops. Good parking, lovely views, lots of information available in the hotel for the holiday maker........ and loads of lovely fluffy white towels in the bathroom! We are only sorry they did not have availability on the 6th night!

  • Understated Classic Elegance

If I could give this Inn 100 stars I would!! As soon as I walked into the check-in desk , I was blown away from the very friendly reception. The rooms are understated but classic elegance. The beds and pillows were so comfortable!! The balcony overlooks the beautiful harbor. Perfect views for the most amazing sunsets. I would recommend the Anchor Inn to all my friends!!!

  • Lovely harbour side hotel

Stayed here for a week with my wife and 2 sons after a busy stay in Boston. What a charming hotel. Excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Room very clean and pretty view. Walking distance to ferries, beaches and restaurants. Pool area great with pool towels available. Breakfast room can get busy but breakfast was appetising. Complimentary hot drinks available during the day and lemonade and cookies in the afternoon went down a treat! Hope to return soon.

  • Loved It!

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful vacation in Hyannis and wanted to write about our great experience staying at The Anchor In. First of all, the location of the hotel was perfect for us - close enough to Main street to walk to all the shops and restaurants, but far enough away from all the hub bub of the other vacationers and their kids. This place was quiet and very peaceful so you could enjoy just floating in the pool listening to the sounds of the boats and ferries as they come and go in the harbor after a day of viewing this beautiful Cape with all its flowers, beaches and old American charm.
Also incredible was the service and attention we received from the staff at the hotel. They simply went above and beyond. From getting us dinner reservations - even mapping out ways for us to find Edward Hopper's hard-to-find home/studio - and simply making our visit to the Cape very easy and enjoyable. We shout out kudos to Sandy, Janet, Chris, and Francis for not only making our visit memorable, but making us feel welcome and wanting to come back which we are certainly planning on as soon as possible. Also worth mentioning is the sumptuous continental breakfast - delicious fresh fruits and lots of variety.

  • A Magnificent Gem!

We just returned from our stay at the Anchor In . WOW!! We would rate our stay as 10+. Upon arriving we were greeted by Janet, a member of the Anchor In staff. She helped us get our bearings around the hotel. Next we entered our room that was spotless and couldn't be more perfect with our own private deck facing the beautiful harbor. We noticed a split of champagne and Belgian chocolates were placed there to help us celebrate our anniversary!! Once the car is parked you do not need to start the engine again until you leave. Location, location, location !! You can walk to restaurants, shopping, parks, museums, memorials, hospital, ice cream , island ferries etc. The continental breakfast( which is included in your room) is not to be believed Our time there was much too short. Upon leaving you are given a "goodby present". It contains 2 cold bottles of water and some taffy for your trip home! Oh Anchor In-- we will be back soon !

  • King of the Cape

My wife and I decided to visit Cape Cod for our 10th anniversary. We decided to stay at Anchor In and we loved everything about it. Our room was beautiful and clean. The price we paid was fair. We had a beautiful view of the bay. This hotel exceeded all of our expectations. We got great service from everyone we dealt with. And we just felt right at home here. This will be the only place we stay in Cape Cod. A+ stay. We will definitely be back.

  • Osterville Room is Fantastic

We stayed in the Osterville room, no 140, for 2 days on our tour of New England. This was probably the nicest room we stayed in out of 12 hotels. It's a large room with fantastic views across the marina and a large wrap-around balcony with a number of chairs. The room is well furnished with two large beds, comfortable sofa & chairs and a dining table & chairs. Pleased to find proper glasses in the room, rather than the plastic some hotels provide. The fridge was positioned with a small sink outside the bathroom. Pleased to find in mid-October that the outside heated swimming pool was still open, and we made use of this each day - it's a good size, depth from 3' to 8', with large numbers of pool side chairs that must be very popular in the warmer months. In the evening there was a fire pit to sit around. The guest lounge included a good range of drinks including lemonade and hot chocolate, welcome after a swim. Breakfast was good with boiled eggs, ham, cheese, pastries, bagels etc. The receptionist was very helpful, phoning a pizza take-away for us as we wanted to eat in. The hotel is in a good position, just a short walk to the harbour, and the Main Street in town, both with a number of restaurants.

  • Best Customer Service

From the time you get there to register to checkout the staff is excellent. All staff are friendly and you can see with all the extra touches that are provided(such as tour when you register, varied continental breakfast, cookies and beverages in library in afternoon to the simple thing of having ice water with lemon for you at the pool)that the owners put customer satisfaction to the forefront. The room we stayed in had all you could ask for for your comfort and the deck was fabulous. We have stayed in another hotel in area and their customer service could not even compare, in fact they were unconcerned with customer satisfaction in comparison. The owners of this hotel put their all into making your stay great. Thank you for a great stay and we will be back.

  • Favorite Place to Stay on Cape Cod

We visit Cape Cod every year and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Hotel is spotless. Staff so accommodating, welcoming, helpful. Location is convenient to almost everything -- walking to ferry (Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard), numerous restaurants, churches, shopping, touring other areas. Breakfast that hotel provides is upscale continental -- variety of breads, muffins, bagels, fresh fruits, cereals, yogurt -- much more than expected plus afternoon snack, coffee, tea. View from all vantage points beautiful. We walk around and see so many interesting things. Found a quiet beach area this time and spent time sitting by the water.

  • Convenient location, beautiful view, great fire pit!

Spent two nights at the Anchor In with my husband and we loved it. We had a wonderful view of the harbor from our room. Comfortable hotel with a great breakfast, daily drinks and snacks in the Library and a fire in the fire pit each night. Staff were very friendly and restaurant recommendations were right on. A perfect place to use as your base for a Cape Cod visit.

  • Perfect Hotel

This is a good hotel that lived up to its reputation. Sandy was on reception when we arrived and was very helpful on advising where to visit and where to eat at nearby walkable restaurants. We had a room with two queen beds and the room was immaculately clean. The breakfast was a continental style buffet and the food was perfectly prepared and the hostess was tirelessly walking round keeping everything spotless. Five stars it is!

The hotel ideally located in Cape Cod for catching the ferry to visit the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

  • Solitude

My husband and I love staying at the Anchor In Hotel. We are repeat customers, and no matter how long a time is between our visits, they always keep in touch, to let us know they value us. The hotel is so tastefully decorated. The colors are soft and understated, definitely "beachy." The staff is so courteous and helpful. The hotel is so nicely centrally located, right on the harbor, but definitely quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. Each room has either a private terrace or balcony. My husband and I never feel rushed, and it is our quiet place at the end of the day. The library/TV room serves as the dining area, for breakfast each morning. So welcoming! We already have our reservations for this summer.

  • Fabulous, welcoming place & fantastic location

Just back from having spent some time here. Our room couldn't have been cleaner with all the facilities you could want. Our balcony overlooking the boats in the harbour was just fabulous and a wonderful place to relax.

The pool was great with towels provided for swimming. The tea/coffee making facilities provided in the beautiful reception/sitting room was great at night and very welcome after a busy day exploring Cape cod.

The fire pit overlooking the harbour was wonderful and lovely place to chat with other travellers! The gardens are particularly beautiful with such colourful flowers. Lastly the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They always went out of their way to oblige and gave great advice with their knowledge of the whole area. A particular shout out to Sandy & Janet!

  • Wonderful Hotel!

Having never been to Cape Code before, it was quite challenging to decide where to spend our two nights there. I chose the Anchor In hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and personal phone calls to the hotel to make reservations and ask questions. The staff goes out of the way to be helpful and personal. This hotel is located on the water with a lovey view of the water. A short walk to restaurants and the ferries. The breakfast offered was the one of the best I have ever had and was first class with real china.

  • Charming Hideaway

My husband and I stayed here sight unseen as a respite from two weeks of major storms and multiple power outages. We were cold, tired and discouraged after leaving a house with no power, and four inches of water in the basement. What a wonderful surpriseAnchor In was! We were greeted warmly, shown the breakfast room and library and then directed to our room. The room was beyond our imagination. Not only was there a spectacular view of the harbor, but the room itself was spotless and beautifully decorated. The amenities, from the robes in the closet, to the Gilchrest and Soames toiletries to the desk device with multiple plugs and USB ports, were well thought out. The complimentary continental breakfast offered a variety of options and really good coffee. We will absolutely recommend this hotel to visiting friends and family.

  • Five Star Visit

Recently, my husband and I stayed for one night at this lovely, family-run, immaculately kept harbor-side property, and were very pleased from the moment we walked in the front door. Welcomed by kind, professional staff, introduced to the Inn amenities, and found our way to what I think is the best room in the house! As a retired hotelier myself I have a critical eye to begin with but put that "eye" away as I felt the pride of business and property shine through. It was a delightful, off-season getaway. Well done, Anchor Inn! ps. you were referred to us by another local business which speaks well of your reputation in the community.

  • Look No Further....

Just hope you can get a reservation for the following reasons: location, location, location; clean enough to "eat off of the floor;" soft plush linens; superior maintenance with not a nick or scratch anywhere; high chairs on the decks so your view of the water is not blocked; friendly and efficient staff starting with Janet, Chris, and ladies who prepared and assisted with breakfast; generous top grade amenities; and the delicious breakfast served in a lovely room overlooking the water with soothing music playing in the background.

  • Another wonderful weekend in books!

We have been repeat customers of this hotel for several years now; just happened to find it one day in a random search and have been coming back every year since. We love that it's owned by the same family that take pride in this true gem, and the staff members are equally proud of what they offer to their guests as they should be. It's small, quiet, clean and the location couldn't be better. The water views from just about every room (and we've stayed in most of them) are spectacular. Returning for one weekend each year before the craziness of the summer rush is the perfect way to get into that summer mood ourselves and once again, with the help of the Anchor In and their wonderful hospitality, we achieved our goal yet again this year. Can't wait for Summer 2018! Thank you and see you next year!

Well worth a visit. Setting is charming and the views of Hyannis Harbor cannot be beat. Quiet place to read a book or the morning paper watching the boats go by. Anchor In surprised us! We were visiting friends on the Cape; one couple had stayed here before and suggested we give it a try. We could not have enjoyed our stay more! We were greeted by Sandy at the front desk, she was terrific and we loved hearing about the history of the Property. The library is a beautiful location to sit with friends, relax or just take in the view of the Harbor. We booked a Habor View Deluxe King, and it was very comfortable, well appointed and clean. It is evident pride and care is taken to make your stay special. We will be back!
